East Toronto families are lucky to have so many options when choosing extracurricular activities. As parents, we understand how difficult it can be to make the right choice. Our primary concern at The Leslieville School of Dance is the growth of your children, not only in dance but in life. It is an incredible process to watch your child come out of their shell, to see their confidence bloom and the effect that this has on their interaction with the world.

We keep our classes small (maximums of 6-12 depending on age) so that we can give each child a high level of individual attention. We emphasize positive body image and attaining personal bests, leaving no room for gossiping, bullying or negative competition amongst peers. Our instructors have been carefully selected for not only their professional training and industry experience, but also for their temperament, patience and ability to inspire children and adults alike. Every staff member at our studio is truly a great role model to their students.

From The National Ballet School of Canada, the prestigious Ryerson University Dance Program, the Royal Danish Ballet, Petrouchka School of Ballet, and the renowned Deborah Colker Centre of Movement to name only a few, our educators are of the highest caliber. With their help, we design our curriculum to be above and beyond the traditional RAD standard.

The Leslieville School of Dance is a boutique-style studio offering the finest quality in dance education. Located in a secure building, with studio viewing windows and tons of natural light, our location can’t be beat. Unlimited parking and close proximity to two major grocery stores, Canadian Tire, Shopper’s Drug Mart, and more. There is also a Starbucks and Tim Hortons next door for your coffee fix! Drop your dancer off and get your shopping done, or bring a book and relax on our roof-top deck with a view.

Serving Leslieville, The Distillery, Riverdale and The Beach, join us to see why The Leslieville School of Dance should be your first choice of neighbourhood dance schools.

Important!

Tuition & Payment:
All tuition is calculated on a 38 week dance year and is not pro-rated for classes missed due to student absence.
Tuition is divided into 10 equal payments:  Due on the 28th day of each month with your first month’s tuition being charged at the time of registration.  For example, October’s tuition is charged September 28th and the final payment of the year is taken May 28th.
Leslieville School Of Dance applies a family discount of 10% on tuition fees for subsequent children who dance within the same family.  We also offer Multi-class discounts of 5% for a second class and 10% for all additional classes.  Discounts can be combined and are calculated automatically at checkout.
Method of Payment: Leslieville School Of Dance accepts credit cards (set up for automatic payment on line) or post-dated cheques.
Account Payments/Management ~  If you are wanting to pay through post-dated cheques, a credit card MUST be on file for every account to be used as a backup method of payment if your cheque bounces.
Fees:

Risk-Free Registration!  We are a family owned and operated business and understand all too well how difficult it can be to make long-term financial commitments when it comes to your child’s recreational programming.  Risk-free registration means exactly that.

Here’s how it works:  First we recommend doing a trial class before completing the registration process (we only charge for the trial class if you decide to register).  Our session runs 10 months but if, for any reason, you need to withdraw from the class, let us know in writing by the 21st of the month and we will be able to put a stop to the monthly tuition payments.
At Leslieville School Of Dance, we do not charge registration fees or withdrawal fees for classes!

Important!  There are some things we cannot refund:
-Dancewear Purchases (once worn)
-Costume Fees – We order our costumes on December 1st specifically for each dancer and once they are ordered we cannot be reimbursed for those costs.  If you are unsure whether your dancer will participate in our Year-End Performance, just give us a call and we talk about the options.  Participation in the Year-End Performance is not mandatory.

Costume fees will be charged on November 15th at a cost of $79+hst per dancer.   If you do not want your saved card to be charged please contact us in advance to make alternate arrangements.
A $20 fee will be charged for all NSF payments. After 2 NSF payments, pre-payment will be required.
Income tax receipts are issued in January of each year. Income tax receipts cannot be issued for payments made by third party.

Preschool Age

Going to dance class for young children can be as much about the outfit as it is about moving to music. For this reason there is no mandatory ballet uniform for any Dance With Me or Creative Movement classes.
What matters is that what they are wearing allows them to move freely and that they feel good in it. Leggings or shorts and a form-fitting tank top are acceptable and appropriate for boys. Elaborate costume pieces and oversized tutus should be saved for designated “dress up” days. Students may also choose between bare feet and ballet slippers for class, but please NO SOCKS.
That being said, if your young dancer grows out of what they currently have and needs a new dance outfit, please refer to the information below. It applies to all Leslieville School of Dance students in ballet classes.

*PLEASE NOTE*
It is important for proper training to wear clothing that will allow your teachers to see your body, (the alignment of your hips and spine etc.). A ballet skirt is suggested for all female students 2-8 years of age, as this helps in teaching positioning of the arms in demi-second. Students 9 years and older should wear only a bodysuit and tights to class, as it becomes increasingly important for teachers to be able to view pelvic alignment and proper posture.

A new outfit for dance class is a wonderful gift idea to suggest to a relative for a birthday or over the holiday season.

DO I HAVE TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES OR CAN I JUST DROP-IN?

Pre-registration is required for all Leslieville School Of Dance classes. If you are unsure about how your child will do in a class and are hesitant to commit to a full Session, please call us at 416-807-1997 to arrange for a free trial class.

CAN MY CHILD START CLASSES PART WAY INTO A SESSION?

Yes, space permitting, registration at Leslieville School Of Dance is ongoing. Your fees will be pro-rated to reflect only the classes your child will attend. Please note, that we cannot accept new students following the March Break, as it does not allow enough instructional time before our our year-end performances.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CLASS TO REGISTER MY CHILD IN?

Leslieville School Of Dance classes are organized by age. The age listed for each class should correspond to the age of your child on December 31st of 2017. Even if your child will be older than the age listed for the class in the New Year, it is recommended that children stay together as a group for the entire dance season (September-June) and then move up the following year.
